PD Dr. Malgorzata Lanowska, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics at Vivantes Klinikum "Am Urban":"I am very much looking forward to my new task at Vivantes Klinikum Am Urban. On the one hand, together with my team, I would like to introduce new minimally invasive concepts in the treatment of benign and malignant gynecological diseases into the clinical routine at the hospital on the Urban and thus further expand gynecology at the site. On the other hand, the excellent obstetrics at this location with very low C-section rates is very close to my heart, so I would like to further strengthen it."
For many years, Dr. Lanowska has focused on operative gynecology and gynecological oncology, so that she was able to acquire the focus designation gynecological oncology before the Berlin Medical Association as early as 2011. Her surgical focus is on minimally invasive gynecological surgery for benign and malignant diseases, also using robot-assisted procedures (DaVinci).
During her time at the Charité, her research interests in clinical research were in the area of new minimally invasive surgical techniques, especially for cervical carcinoma. She had successfully completed her habilitation on the topic of "Modern minimally invasive therapy concepts for early cervical carcinoma" in 2017.
In addition to her clinical work, she has long been interested in tasks related to clinic organization and medical management. In 2011, she completed a two-year qualification program funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and was thus able to acquire the title of health manager.
Born in Poland, she came to Berlin at the age of 12, studied medicine at the Free University of Berlin after graduating from high school, and has two daughters together with her partner.
Vivantes Hospital "Am Urban" has 12 medical departments, a central emergency room and 614 beds. Around 65,000 patients are treated each year. About 1,500 babies are born each year in the maternity clinic of the Kreuzberg hospital.
