Medical Care Centers (MVZ) turn 15!

Vivantes subsidiary celebrates anniversary

Vivantes MVZ GmbH was founded in 2006. The aim was to supplement inpatient care in hospitals with outpatient services in specialized areas. With more than 150,000 patients per year and a large patient database, Vivantes MVZ GmbH is still one of the largest municipal MVZ operators in Germany.

In the 13 own Vivantes MVZs and one MVZ in cooperation with Charité, patients are treated in 30 medical specialties. More than 400 employees from many professional groups work in a total of 80 teams, including 130 licensed specialists and psychological psychotherapists.

Cross-sector medical care

The special feature of medical care centers lies in the cross-sectoral care of patients, i.e. the close and ideally seamless interaction between outpatient and inpatient treatment. Many of the doctors working here also work in the inpatient sector and thus have the opportunity to provide intensive care for their patients in both sectors. This ensures professional exchange and a high quality of medical treatment.

Vivantes MVZ GmbH is managed by the managing director Dr. Axel Rösler and the authorized signatory Eva Ali. Oncology is a particular focus of the wide range of services offered, which now include more than 30 specialties. From diagnostics in highly specialized departments such as radiotherapy and nuclear medicine with its own radiochemistry laboratory to therapy in our internal oncology MVZ and aftercare – also for inpatients at Vivantes hospitals – medical care is provided from a single source. Other special services include the Outpatient Health Center for Children and Adolescents in the MVZ Prenzlauer Berg and the Pain Center established in Friedrichshain with orthopedics, neurosurgery, special pain therapy and physical rehabilitation medicine as well as psychotherapy.

The Statuary Health Insurance Modernization Act opened up the possibility for hospitals to establish their own medical care centers for the first time from 2004 onwards and thus participate in outpatient care on a permanent basis. Vivantes realized this possibility in 2006 initially at Neukölln and Friedrichshain Hospitals.

The undetected
There are diseases that only become known because a celebrity is affected by them. One example is oral cavity carcinoma, which recently claimed the life of the well-known actor Jan Fedder. If it is discovered at an early stage, it is usually curable.
