On August 01, 2021, PD Dr. Weismüller will take over as head of the Clinic for Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Vivantes Humboldt Hospital. He succeeds the acting head physician Dr. Bernd von Lampe.
PD Dr. Tobias J. Weismüller was most recently and since 2012 senior physician in charge of endoscopy and the gastroenterological function laboratory at the University Hospital Bonn.
His main areas of expertise include interventional endoscopy and the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas.
The goal of the new chief physician is to detect and treat these diseases, which are now among the most widespread diseases, through early diagnosis. In addition to medicinal treatment options, modern minimally invasive endoscopic procedures nowadays allow gentle therapy and healing of benign and malignant diseases of the digestive organs in many cases.

PD Dr. Weismüller grew up in Koblenz and completed his studies in human medicine between 1996 and 2003 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. In 2004, he began working in gastroenterology at the Hannover Medical School, becoming a specialist in 2010. In 2012, he moved to the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I of the University Hospital Bonn.
PD Dr. Weismüller is involved as a reviewer for more than a dozen German and international journals and is a member of national and international professional societies in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy.
PD Dr. Weismüller is married and has three children.
