Center for Sports Medicine opened at Vivantes Humboldt Hospital

Since the beginning of November, a team of sports physicians at Vivantes Humboldt Hospital has been providing a new quality of care for amateur, competitive and top athletes. To this end, patients can now also receive outpatient care at the new "Vivantes Sports Medicine Berlin" center and access a networked range of sports experts.

Sport is healthy and has a positive effect on well-being. Beach volleyball player Toni Hellmuth, who is competing for "Vivantes Sports Medicine Berlin" this season, knows this too.

Toni Hellmuth, volleyball pro at SV Lindow/Gransee: "When I go out on the court, I want to be optimally prepared and know that I am in good hands. That's why I'm happy about the good cooperation with Vivantes Sports Medicine."

Anyone who actively plays sports is doing something good for their body - provided they don't overdo the activity, don't do anything wrong and don't have an accident. Otherwise, overuse injuries can occur, acute injuries can occur and chronic consequences can develop. For such a case, the newly established Center for Sports Medicine has a large number of conservative and surgical joint specialists, including shoulder, spine, hip, knee and foot and hand surgery, among others. They work closely together in the participating facilities, clinics and departments for trauma surgery and orthopedics, both as outpatients and inpatients. In this way, diagnosis, therapy and necessary operations are individually coordinated for the patients.

Dr. Bernd Dreithaler, head of the new center "Vivantes Sports Medicine Berlin": "When we founded the center, it was important to us to network all joint specialists. Athletes should find experts for the whole body at our center - from the shoulder to the foot."

However, the new sports outpatient clinic is not only a point of contact for acute cases with specialized diagnostics and care, but also advises on therapy options for chronic injuries, prevention and offers examinations for sports fitness. The Vivantes Sports Medicine Berlin Center also cooperates with external sports medicine partners as needed when a specific treatment cannot or should not be performed within the clinic.
