The Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria Hospital has been certified by the German Cancer Society as an interdisciplinary colorectal cancer center. The high standards required for this with regard to diagnostics and therapy ensure high-quality care for patients with colorectal cancer. The certificate was awarded in September.
In the interdisciplinary center, patients with colorectal cancer are treated surgically, endoscopically and oncologically. Well over one hundred operations were performed last year, with an upward trend.
In addition to the closely interlinked treatment of the three departments, the center structure also enables the participation of other important disciplines such as psycho-oncology, nutritional medicine, social medicine and physiotherapy as well as outpatient oncological rehabilitation, which is located directly on the premises. In the outpatient area, close cooperation is also practiced with the oncological, radiation therapy and general practitioner practices. This ensures comprehensive and high-quality care for patients with colorectal cancer.
Better patient care through interdisciplinary cooperation
Dr. Güllü Cataldegirmen, Chief Physician of the Colorectal Cancer Center at Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria Hospital:"Our networking is our greatest strength. Together with all relevant departments, we discuss treatment options in the tumor conference and determine the further procedure. This enables us to respond to individual patient requirements and offer the best possible therapy."
High treatment quality through continuous optimization
To ensure that the high national and international quality standards are met, the center undergoes regular external inspections and constantly optimizes its processes so that the specialist departments involved work even better hand in hand as a center.
The center is headed by Dr. Güllü Cataldegirmen (Visceral Surgery), Prof. Dr. Mario Anders (Gastroenterology) and Prof. Dr. Maike de Wit (Oncology).
