On 11 August 2011 the new Egyptian Foreign Minister H.E. Mohammed Kamel Amr and the Egyptian Ambassador H.E. Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy were welcomed at Vivantes Humboldt Hospital in order to visit an Egyptian citizen who had been injured during the revolution in Egypt.
Vivantes had admitted heavily injured Egyptian citizens after the Egyptian uprising in spring this year in order to give them medical treatment in Germany.
The Patient being visited was admitted to Vivantes in March 2011. He was suffering from multiple complex gun shot wounds in his body. After the treatment at Vivantes he is able to walk again and will hopefully be able to pursue his profession as cardiologist next year.
„It is the aim of Berlin to become an international centre for the healthcare industry. In this special case we think that it is our responsibility to help the international community”, says Nizar Maarouf, General Manager of Vivantes International GmbH.
The Egyptian Foreign minister wanted to thank Vi-vantes and the team of the department for orthopae-dics and neurology for their help. The Patient had been treated by PD Dr. Erli, Director of the Department for Orthopaedics and Prof. Schmitz, Director of the Department for Neurology.
The visit of the Vivantes hospital was part of the foreign ministers first trip abroad in his new position. Today he is going to meet the German foreign minister Dr. Westerwelle.
